Santa Fancy Dress Costumes - Pre-Buy Considerations
The perfect time to don a Santa costume is December when everyone's in the Christmas mood. But you can wear one at a costume themed party at any other time of the year if you wish to stand out and make an impact.
Having decided to dress as Santa, you have to decide on what Santa costume to wear, because there a lot of versions available. One of the factors for your decision will likely be your budget. If you don't want to spend a lot, you can get a Santa outfit for less than $25. But you have to understand that the implication is that you can only wear the outfit once.
These cheap disposable outfits may use material that causes fabric rub offs on what you'll be wearing under it. Are you willing to risk that?
As you may expect, cheap costumes are made of materials that lack quality. After few wears, they won't be of use anymore. On the other hand, quality outfits are made of velour and other posh materials. They can be kept clean by hand or machine washing as well dry cleaning. These Santa outfits will cost you $25 or more.
Santa's costume isn't supposed to be featureless. Again, the details present determine the figure on the price tag. Cheap Santa fancy dress costumes will offer you nothing else but the hat and robe while the better renditions of Santa Claus include trousers, jacket and hat with white fluffy edge trimmings.
Santa is fat-bellied and he has that waist belt with a big buckle to hold his belly in. If you are to impersonate Santa, you have to be that plump too. The waist belt may be included in the outfit that you purchase, but if you do not have a big belly then you may wish to put padding around your waist. You can alternatively buy a Santa belly stuffer.
How about waist up? You must not only be concerned about the outfit itself, you have to have the face of Santa. That would require you to wear eyeglasses and a white, long and fluffy beard and mustache. It's possible for you to have your own spectacles so you need mot buy a new one. But most likely, you would shell out additional amount on the beard and mustache and the hat if it wasn't included in the costume set you bought.
And to let everyone know Santa Claus is coming to town, you might want to purchase a Santa bell. While you're ready to strut it out with a full Santa outfit, remember that Santa is famous for the gifts he gives more than his look. Start shopping and wrapping those wonderful presents if that's what you intend to do. if you are really on a tight budget, you can at least have a Santa sack that's looks full with a few goodies.
Just for fun, for you and the people around you, get in a Santa outfit. Say "Ho Ho Ho... Christmas is here and Santa is here to spread love, happiness and cheer"!
